Wing Chun Kung Fu (aka Ving Tsun) is a traditional Chinese martial art with its roots in civilian self-protection training. The developers of the system needed a system that could be taught and learned rapidly, to offer non-military practitioners skills to defend themselves and their property. It is based on core principles, concepts, and tactics that seeks to quickly end conflict with an awareness that these events are usually multiple-attacker scenarios. Wing Chun prepares the student for asymmetrical application, with the knowledge that self-protection events take place without foreknowledge, against an unknown assailant; a circumstance that does not observe weight classes, time limits, or second chances. The reactions for self-protection need to be simple, direct, and efficient; reflexes should be automatic, without hesitation and as universally effective as is possible. As the saying in Wing Chun goes "be quick to end the conflict," the goal being to finish in 3 seconds. Each student learns the core training, and combined with their own experience makes the system their own. No one version of Wing Chun exists beyond its core drills and principles.

"Direct, efficient, and simple--that is the heart of Wing Chun. It also best describes Greg LeBlanc (and what I will try to be with this review). It has been my experience with several kung fu systems, that there are a lot of people who claim to teach authentic kung fu, but many, perhaps most, fail. They simply don't have the skills, communication, and authenticity to do so, Greg LeBlanc has all of these. Wing Chun, when done right, is not flashy, but is highly effective and extremely powerful. LeBlanc Wing Chun Kwoon has a very inviting atmosphere, utilizing a "Hong Kong" style of teaching. This allows each individual direct attention, and individualized rate of growth. There are no fancy uniforms, titles, no long contracts, and the facilities are clean and practical. Greg LeBlanc is always open to answering questions, and encourages students to "Make Wing Chun work for you, not for you to work for Wing Chun".
