PHASE ONE

Picture
Phase One provides the foundation for the basic shapes, footwork, structure, and reactions. Without a firm foundation it is not possible to progress into the more advanced expressions of the system. Wing Chun strives to break down into component pieces the habits, structure (biomechanics), concepts, shapes, and skills that are the core and true meaning of Wing Chun training.

The 3 phase system is intended to create a progressive path in learning and training Wing Chun Kung Fu. The keys to learning are based on Proper Progression, Specificity of Training (training what you will do, do what you trained), and Assessment (both student and coach). Learning is the first step, meaning to understand the logic of the entire system, which includes not only applications; but the underlying bio-mechanical framework (aka structure) providing balance, power, and mobility. Without mobility, balance and ground connection, the system cannot deliver the necessary position, power, and angles that are required to successfully utilize Wing Chun skills under real world, asymmetrical (random and unforeseen), pressure.
